Summer 2026

Over 25 years after their self-titled debut album spawned a digital revolution, the world’s best virtual band @gorillaz sit atop The Mountain on their ninth studio album. Inspired by their revolutionary trip to India in the wake of both their fathers passing, bolstered by a medley of global collaborators, the 27th February-released record shows that, although illustrator Jamie Hewlett and musical maestro Damon Albarn may be at the peak of their powers, they ain’t done climbing yet.

As 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs cover Wonderland’s Spring ’26 issue, Hewlett and Albarn step out from behind their digital creations to reflect on how decades of industry-leading innovation has left them hungrier than ever to disrupt the status quo. They talk grief, predicting the future, and their deep-seated love for adventure.
